I have this same problem on my 4s.  It got worse when I did as Apple asked and did a restore from new.  Wiped out games and other data from my phone, AND made the battery drain even faster.

I wish Apple would just admit that this OS isnt meant for the older phones.  Its very disingenuous of them, as far as Im concerned.

If I didnt hate Google so much, Id be grabbing a Samsung Galaxy everything tomorrow morning after I return my new iPad mini and this now defective iPhone 4s.

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

Yes. I have a 3 month old iPhone 5 and the usage time has gone from 8.5 hours to less than 6 with the same usage patterns. My phone battery now performs like a three year old one. Silence from Apple, why cant they acknowledge the problem and say that theyre working on a fix? Incidentally, why on earth was this software not heavily tested before release

People with iPhone 5s are also widely reporting loss of battery life after upgrading.  iOS7 isnt just meant for the 5c or 5S..

Ive read that and more tips that its making my head spin.  This is the real problem.  The A4 chip is being taxed too much by the OS.  Its plain and simple.  Its not a horrible thing...it makes sense.  While I dont like the UI of this OS, it has a lot going for it, and all of that wow is too much for the older processor.

My real beef is that it took 6 calls to Apple Tech Support to tell me off the record that Im right, and that the iPad Mini with the exact same A4 processor shouldnt be upgraded to iOS 7 either.

Just tell the truth, Apple.  Otherwise, youre no different than Android.  its bad enough that this OS looks like Android.

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

Thats not bad compared to my situation.  I went from a fully charged phone to 71% in an hour and a half of just standby.  The phone worked just fine before the update.

Somehow, theres something wrong with my phone.  Yes...its not made for this OS.

I have an iPhone 4 and it works like a charm no problems at all, also battery life is the same since day one. I personally dont think it is an issue with the iOS otherwise all users would have the same issue not just some.

What you can do is read over the link below to see what steps to take to get the most out of your battery life:

http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html

Also with iOS 7 the feature for Background App Refresh can use a bit of battery life so it wouldn;t hurt to possibly turn this off.

Apart from that if after all steps the issue remains you would need to look at doing a back up and restore to factory settings or alternatively book an appointment at an Apple Store to have the iPhone evaluated.

Im also having battery-problems. Im using an iPhone 4 and Ive noticed that whenever Ive used my 3G (when I need it, I put in on and afterwards I turn it back off to save battery.. ha, the irony) my usage time keeps rising even though Im not using my phone, thus draining my battery. If I turn off and turn back on my phone, that problem seems to have disappeared and my battery life and usage time are back to normal (and very good, I might add)

I tried this a few times to check my hypothesis and everytime this happened. So Im guessing theres still a bug which Im hoping Apple will solve..

ps: sorry if my grammar isnt all that great, Im not English..

Ive got a brand new 5S and the battery life is crap.  Having to charge it twice a day and thats with hardly using it.  There must be some setting using a lot of power that Ive missed!

The fact is that EVERYONE is running out of battery much faster since the update to IOS7 and there´s no answer from Apple. I feel cheated and if I could I would like to go back to IOS6.

My Iphone 5 is no longer the tool I need. And I´ve turned off almost everything ... When a company such as Apple releases and OS it should work properly. If it drains our battery a a 40% faster it simply has turned our devices into something useless.

I really look forward to hearing some solution (believable and effective, please) from Apple.

Apple, help us , please.

Don´t change your fans into detractors.

Thank you.

I updated to iOS 7. Besides the really cool features and getting use to it I dont see any problems. Im on iPad mini. Not slow, sluggish like I thought it was going to be. I can see apple growing off the os this year and next year. As for the battery goes? I dont see much of a difference? This did happen to me on 6.1.2 with the battery draing so fast. I just drained it and charged it. To a while before it got better. Good luck everyone.

I too have turned everything off apart from parallax. Phone was on 99% when I went to bed then 77% when I woke up 9 hours later. I dont have push email or background refresh app on, so I am extremely disappointed with ios7.  I have the iPhone 5.

I hope a software fix comes out soon, as I will sell this and my iPhone 4S and get 2 Samsungs or Sonys for my husband and I.

Apple solution to helping your battery last longer......turn off everything! New iOS and I have to cripple it!! Disable almost if not all features and turn off stuff to save battery health....why does Apple do this! Make a iPhone or iPad with a longer battery life! Apple has been aware of this for years but we never see anything happen.

So now that the new iOS is affecting some idevices....we will NOT see a fix for a few months! Maybe longer? Im just sick of the draining issue. When my iPad 2 and iPad mini are asleep the battery is fine, I start to use it and down goes the battery. I shut everything off! I put one app on at a time to see if maybe its an app? Having my iPad mini with nothing on it but what comes with it the battery goes so fast just using safari!

Please fix this.....here we go again!

One more thing... My iPad 2 downloaded iOS 7.0.2 but I had that feature turned off. Now it says install, instead it use to say download and install. Im so fired up right!! Im a regular 40 guy who is not rich! I cant just go out and buy a new iPad or a new iPad mini when they come out in October or November? Is that what Apple is trying to do? Make me think my stuff is really out dated now!!

Fired up! Thanks again for the wonderful support....Apple! GTH!

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

I have the same issue with my iPhone 5 for about a week now. After charging to 100% in the morning my battery used to drop to about 50% in the evening; since the end of last week my iphone drops to 0% about late afternoon! With the same usage. I think I  tried everything written everywhere in the internet, from disabling any  connection or application you can think of, removing the sim card,  resetting, 3 fresh installs without restoring from back-up etc.

NOTHING HELPED!

Obviously the issue is not with any particular feature of iOS 7, as I disabled all of them, I dont think I missed any. I believe the issue is WITH THE IOS 7 ITSELF.

I think people should stop posting dumb instructions about disabling this or that. What is the point of having an iphone if I will use it just like an old rotary dial telephone? And as I said, disabling functions did not help me at all! I believe there is no way to solve the problem, and as far  as I can see in the apple support forums, visiting an apple store does  not resolve the problem either.

I believe the only way out is use  another phone until, or if ever, Apple fixes the issue with an iOS  update. I hope anyone from Apple actually reads these forums and we do not just talk to ourselves.

YOU LOST A CLIENT, APPLE! And not just one, judging by the number of complaints. I wonder how many people will risk investing in an iPhone 5s if they know about the issue. Samsung seems a safer and more cost-effective alternative...

The same problem. The battery in my Ipad 2 with iOS 7 is the middle that the previous version. Please give us a solution!

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

iPhone 4 no more usable after updating to iOS 7.0.2!!Battery drains from 100% to 1% in about 3 hours with no use. Confirmed some other user comment that the battery drains 1% every 2-3 minutes! Also, the battery charges VERY slowly. It takes at least 3 hours to fully recharge. Sometimes never gets to 100%.IT IS NOT AN OLD BATTERY PROBLEM! I changed the battery for a brand new one and the problem persist identical!

Apple need to find a fix to this. It is for sure 100% a software problem!

Just want to chime in to agree with you guys. I just bought an iphone 5 last week and the battery life is really bad, even with absolutely everything turned off (LTE, wifi, background app refresh, parallax effects, email push, siri, screen brightness way down, etc. etc.). We shouldnt have to turn all these features off just to get tolerable battery life.

My sense is that this is probably an ios7 thing. But lets stay tuned and see.

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

Basically, after careful evaluation, IOS 7 drains the iphone 5 at a rate of 1% every 60 to 120 seconds if doing any of the fol:

Any browsing

Any calls

Any radio/speaker

Any camera action

A background App, while on standby, drained my iphone 25% in 2 hours. However, this never ever happened with IOS 6 and left dozens of apps running!!!!

At an Apple store the morning I took it in, the tech diagnosed it as being used for hours already, i told him checking the phone maybe 60 seconds. Was advised to DO A CLEAN INSTALL AND IMPORT FROM ICLOUD.

All  these observations noted with all the normal power hogs turned off  (notifications app refresh etc and minimal brightness)!!!!

Apple support confirmed it as a KNOWN ISSUE. And that a replacement likely to have the same issue. Have a year warranty left but its the nuisance thatis annoying.

All these forums and articles advising to to turn off more features is so ludicruous, it is like transforming my iphone 5 into a BLACKBERRY, witout the apps or anything smart running...If I wanted such an experience would have bought the Z10!!!!!!!!

OH, CLEAN INSTALL- HAS NO EFFECT..

Just to add to my previous message in this thread, I had my phone replaced with a new one, they told me I had s hardware issue. If the new one is fine, they did not lose me just yet, but its an inconvenience anyway.

I have gone from being a happy iphone user to a disgusted one. I intend to bail out of this mess as soon as my current contract expires in 2 months or so and judging by the lack of support from apple with this issue, Ill be glad to see the back of them and it - it being this joke of a phone that doesnt even last till I get home in late afternoon!

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

People are crying because once you update you cannot go back. Your locked into this phone for at least 2 years in many cases. Your phone now dies in 3 hours bc of the update. Thats a huge deal. Now your locked in and nothing to do. I understand your point of view on the icons but performance is a huge deal now your locked in. Many people downloaded this 7.0.3 bc it claimed to fix bugs. So we update bc we are trying to fix bugs and now there are more bugs. Thats a big deal. Never buying an apple product again. Im tired of this ********. They just want you to buy a new phone.

Answer:iOS 7 draining iPhone battery

I went throught the replacement process with Apple Care- NOT THE STORE. Supposedly stores get un-tested stock refurbished. the replacement phone I received was refurbished with new parts, individually tested and overall phone tested. Net result? x3 x4 better life when using it. Yes it seems a bit faster drain than ios 6, but not the 1% every 90 seconds playing radio or surfing. So its 3-4 minutes now easily, or more.

The battery issue was determined via a remote SMS ISMS link, that enabled the Apple Sr tech to determine that my drain vs usage made no sense. Thats how she authorized an imemdiate replacement.

In the end what my replacement proved was that the hardware was defective. Also my replacement iPhone 5 works visibly smoother and faster.
