New ATT Price Plan for the New 4G iPhone

Question:New ATT Price Plan for the New 4G iPhone

Someone please help me! I just took last months Data Usage from my ATT Bill and did the conversion from MG to GB to see where I would be in the new pricing plan. ATT says that anything over 2GB would be considered Overage and charged a per mg fee with the largest allowance of 2GB per month. Well five of us got together who feel we are general users of iphone (totally integrated with work & personal) and the AVERAGE GB use was over 1000GB per month.
Question: HOW involved or influential is APPLE in ATTs 4G pricing package? Those of us (true Apple addicts) who essentially purchase everything apple/mac were just priced OUT of the new 4G phone option. What other options do the loyal customers have to reduce cost or keep current in the monthly data plan.
This is a HUGE concern. The new ATT 4G Pricing plan puts users back to the mid 80s with fear of $700 a month phone bills again. This is not COOL and frankly has caused me to start investigating other phones and carriers.
Please tell me there is a REAL Solution!!

No one is going to be forced to change their plan if they dont want to. If a new phone is announced, you will still be able to use your current unlimited plan.
There is no way your calculations are right. How do you use a terabyte (1000gb) of data a month on the iPhone?

I was hoping that my calculation was wrong but used a conversion program i found on the web. My last months bill says I used 1,053,288 mb which the program said was 1002 GB - If I did something wrong please correct me.
When I went to the ATT site I understood that 1) yes I am eligible to upgrade but 2) when i go to renew the 2-year contract I MUST convert to a new 4G plan
If my understanding is wrong, it would be the perfect time to correct me. I really am hoping I am totally wrong.

You have to be mistaken. There is no way you are using that much data. It is more likely you are using 1.05 GBs but you are misunderstanding. 1,053,288 MB is WAY beyond reasonable usage.
And you are grandfathered anyway meaning you can stay on the original 5 GB plan.

If you were using that much data, ATT wouldve shut you off months ago. There is absolutely no way that you could be using a terabyte of data. I would call ATT and find out what is going on.
Im a heavy iPhone user and Ive never even hit 2 gb.

Ok - I am a heavy iPhone user but clearly limited in Tech speak and knowledge. I am calling them today. However, am I correct that when I purchase the new 4G iPhone that I must renew to a NEW 4g data plan and that the only grandfathering that occurrs is if I stay with the OLD phone?
While Im excited for the new software upgrade, Im more excited for the 4G phone.
When is the new 4g iPhone available?

the AVERAGE GB use was over 1000GB per month.

Theres no way you can be using that much data per month.
To use that much, you would have to be constantly downloading at around 400kb/s every second, of every hour, of every day for a full 30 day month, without stopping.
That is impossible. Your calculations must be wrong.

There has been no announcement yet of a new phone. Until Apple announces, anyone who has details has signed an NDA and cannot discuss them.
Instead of worrying about plans and such, why not worry about finding out why you appear to be using an impossible amount of data and get that squared away?

If your bill says 1,053,288 mb, it probably is in megabits (Mb) and not megabytes (MB). Theres 8 bits in a byte and 1024 megabytes in a gigabyte. Thats the equivalent of about 128GB of usage, which is quite a lot. But if your current plan is unlimited, I dont think AT&T will make you change your plan if you upgrade to the new iPhone.

IF a 4G (or a 4th iPhone) is on its way, why would you have to change your data plan or your general plan at all to get the new device? You should be able to roll over your current plan.
Ive rolled the same plan over with each new device (4 regular phones and 3 iPhones). My plan goes back to when they were Cingular and its remained unchanged for 5+ years.

AT&Ts original unlimited data plan for the iPhone is truly unlimited - there is no 5 GB cap with the unlimited data plan for the iPhone. There is a 5 GB cap for AT&Ts unlimited data plan for all other phones in the smart phone category, but not with the iPhones unlimited data plan.
