straight talk data isnt working since iphone update
My Iphone 4s 16g and 4s 32g are both unlocked and have this same issue. In iOS 6 the new settings setup meeses with my ability to fix my APN settings to get my data & mms working with my straight talk sim. BUT there is a way to fix it. I dont take credit for this at all, it was sent to me on another post I had but im just going to modify it slightly.
This is thte only way to get data & MMS working on a non-jailbroken iPhone on iOS 6 as far as im aware of right now
1. Open the Notes app (or any other stock app)
2. Go to Settings General
3. Insert the T-Mobile SIM (can be brand new/unactivated OR an old one that has had service) will bring up the Cellular option
4. Go into Cellular Cellular Data Network when it shows up
5. Immediately take out the T-Mobile SIM and put the Straight Talk SIM back in while in the Cellular Data Network tab
6. Multitask between Cellular Data Network and the Notes app back and forth until a signal from Straight Talk comes in and the default non-working data & MMS APN are automatically entered. It is important to wait until the default APN settings show up
7. Once the APNs do show up, edit them manually
8. Go toggle Airplane Mode on and off, and then turn your iphone off and then back on
Data and MMS now work fine.... UNTIL YOUR PHONE TURNS OFF OR DIES!
To fix this follow these steps
After Step 8 and you check that your data & mms ARE working. then turn off your phone one more time and then back on again. Check that data & mms yet again. data should work but mms shouldnt. Here is the fix; go into Settings Cellular then toggle Cellular Data off and back on and everything should be working 100000% fine now.
MMS Proxy: 220.127.116.11:80
MMS Max Message Size: 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL: *blank*
I can confirm 100% that this method works on iOS 6
Most instructions Ive seen are not very helpful to get to the page to enable editing APN and other information needed to begin to get MMS & Data from Straight Talk... otherwise, phone currently makes and receives calls and will do some limited texts. AT&T advises it is an unlocked phone, however hookling to iTunes and doing a backup and restore has accomplished nothing. Since it is backed up (several ways over a couple days), what if I go through an erase process then restore with the Straight Talk sim card
I bought an iphone 3gs from a coworker and bought a straight talk sim card for it. The phone works great but I can not get my MMS to work on the phone. I was told by Straight Talk that it would have to be unlocked first before they could help me to get the MMS feature to work on it. How do I go about unlocking the phone safely without damaging it or jailbreaking it?
Recently updated to IOS 7. Data and MMS is not working with Straight Talk. I currently have an Iphone 4S and everything was working up until I updated my phone. Any solutions?
I have an iPhone 4 GSM and an iPhone 4s under contract to ATT. Both have been factory unlocked. I can take a straight talk sim card and place it in my 4s and recieve service, however when i try the straight talk sim in the 4 it gives me the message
Your selected cellular network is restricted. You can choose a different network in Settings.
the att sim works fine in both phones. what could the problem be?
Has anybody taken an AT&T iPhone 4 and switched it to Straight Talk? In recently did this and am now trying to work. I cant follow the steps given online to change the APN cause my phone doesnt have the buttons needed. Any suggestions?
I really want an iPhone 5 for my Birthday. But idk if Straight Talk gives gsm models or only CDMA? Please help?
my iphone 4s is unlocked and i just got a straight talk sim and put it in my phone and went to set up my mms and data settings, but they vanished? when i put in my old tmobile sim card they come back? anyone else have this problem/ had it and fixed it?
I have a AT&T iPhone 3GS. My contract ran out last September. I just let it end including the phone number.
I then signed up for Google Voice and just used the Talkatone app on my phone with Wifi to make calls and text.
In the last 2 Days I bought the correct Straight Talk Sim and Unlimited Refill Card and had my Google Voice number transfered to the Straight Talk Sim, and they activated it.
---I did not unlock my phone if that helps.---
My phone can send and recieve calls from anyone.
My phone can access the internet fine.
-It can ONLY Text those on the AT&T Network.
-It CANT Picture Message anyone!
(it can iMessage everyone with iMessage but that works through the data)
What is happening and how do I fix it?
Thanks for the help!!!!!!
BestBuy offers an iphone 3gs USA factory unlocked (SKU 6314408) and I would like to purchase and use a non-contract plan like Straight Talk or Net10. Are all the access point names (APN) fields available for me to enter all the carriers data? And if so, will I have all the features an iphone 3gs offers... like, multimedia picture messaging and internet? Additionally, can I use icloud as I have a MacBook Air. This would be my first iphone.
When i updated my phones iOS to 6.1.1 i got screen when i looked at my phone after the update finished and its teling me to connect to itunes.

my iphone backlight will not work how do I fix this
I have a iPhone 4, out of nowhere it stopped working. When I open the app its just black and doesnt show previous photos on the bottom left. I have already tried clicking the home button and clearing it from opened apps and I have restarted my phone multiple times by holding the home and lock button, but nothing seems to work Is there anything I can do myself or do I go to a apple store to get it fixed?
Ive been researching this quite a bit and have seen many threads that talk about calls going to voicemail, but everything Ive seen refers to Edge data vs. 3G data.
My iPhone 4 is running ios 5.0.1. Anytime I am accessing anything that uses 3G data (downloading/upgrading apps, updating news streams, watching YouTube, etc.), all incoming calls to my phone are being directed straight to voicemail. I can replicate the behavior 100% (e.g. not an intermittent issue). Although the voicemail alert will eventually sound, the incoming calls do NOT show up as missed calls, so if the other party doesnt leave a voicemail, I have no idea that theyve called.
Things Ive already tried to do:
1) reset network settings
2) reset AT&T voicemail pin
3) visited AT&T store to receive an updated sim card and had them verify it isnt something related to my account set up (Ive had the same set up since iPhone 3G, but you never know what AT&T might turn on for my convenience)
4) did full restore through iTunes, restoring phone from recent back up
5) full restore through iTunes setting up phone as new phone (in case there was something funky in the back up)
In every instance, it still sends the calls straight to voicemail if the phones 3G data is in use -- and it is definitely 3G data (AT&T tower in the parking lot of my office, 80 yards from the front door).
the button works when you reset it and also if you simply want to exit from an app. It will not however let you completely exit out of an application by holding the home button down for a few seconds. I hold it down and nothing will happen even after I let go after 15 seconds for example I can use the app like normal. does anyone have any idea why this is the case?
This is actually a phone I just replaced as a result of my previous Iphone malfunctioning. Got this with the applecare program.

I was told that the Verizon iPhone 4 since it is CDMA will NOT allow you to talk and use data at the same time like the AT&T iPhone GSM does. Can anyone provide accurate info on this?
MacBook Pro 13" Mac OS X (10.6.6) iPhone 4 16GB, iPhone 3GS 16GB, iPod Nano 8GB, MacBook Pro 13

AT&T and iPhone data use charges - WiFi and cellular link options
Many people have complained about unusual data usage charges on their AT&T iPhone bills -- often 10s of megabytes in one transaction, posted in the middle of the night. Here are a couple of updates based on the AT&T support portal:
WiFi vs cellular link: Connecting to a local WiFi hotspot and turning off your cellular data connection will block cellular data transmission and related charges. (Except for SMS messages, which are very small.) There are some gotchas, however: (a) If your iPhone goes to sleep (the screen goes black), it will revert to the cellular data link, unless it is plugged into a charger. (b) Even if your iPhone is plugged into a charger, it will revert to a cellular data connection if the WiFi link drops, e.g. due to a momentary glitch with your internet provider or electric power supply, so.... (c) The only way to completely ensure that your iPhone will not revert to a cellular data connection is to turn it completely off. You (obviously) will not be able to receive calls, however.
Large data transactions in the middle of the night: Unusually large chunks of data that are apparently sent around midnight are a related issue. You may think that you could avoid these mystery charges by making sure you have a WiFi connection running at night. A number of czars on AT&Ts site stated, however, that this is are simply an artifact of AT&Ts billing system, which aggregates transactions that occur throughout the day into one summary charge, which is posted in the middle of the night. If this is accurate, the data connection(s) you use throughout the day will determine how large this summary transaction will be.
Note: Our bill does not appear to square with AT&Ts explanation. For example:
39 04/06/2012 09:36PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0040 04/06/2012 10:35PM phone Data Transfer 7 KB 0.0041 04/06/2012 10:41PM phone Data Transfer 369,759 KB 30.00
If all of the data from 6 April was rolled up into the massive 369.8 megabyte transaction at 10:41pm, why are there two small transactions at 9:36pm and 10:35? We installed Onavo to try to get to the bottom of this;; I will post the results at the end of the current billing cycle.
I keep getting an error thats states the security code from the back of my credit card is wrong and it isnt entered wrong! I cant update any apps becuase it keeps redirectimg me to the billing page!!!

I have an iPhone 4S, 16GB with Virgin Mobile, and my data isnt working. The phone displays 3G, and I get between 3-5 bars, but every time I attempt to use an app that uses data or when I load a web page, it displays Could not activate cellular data network. You are not subscribed to a cellular data service. Placing/receiving calls and texting still work, however. This isnt a location specific issue either.
*Ive tried dialing ##UPDATE# to activate Starting Service Update probably hundreds of times, unfortunately it always comes back as Service Update Failed.
*Ive also reset Network Settings, and this did nothing for my iPhone.
*Ive called Apple and Virgin Mobile but they couldnt fix this issue. Virgin Mobile doesnt have an outage at the moment. Some of my friends have VM, and their phones work just fine.
The phone works flawlessly when connected to WiFi.
VM iPhones do not use SIM cards.
Since this morning, my iphone has stopped connecting to both the 3G and EDGE data networks. After getting to work, I upgraded to 2.02, and this did not fix the problem. Then, I tried several restarts, hard resets and resets of the wireless settings to no avail. I also have switched the Enable 3G, Data Roaming, Wi-Fi, and Airplane Mode settings on and off, again to no avail. Voice data and wi-fi seem to be working properly. Does anyone have any idea about what I need to do?

My iPhone 5s backup battery case is not working after the iOS 7 update and it states that this case is not certified and may not work reliably with the iPhone but his this same case worked perfectly fine before the iOS 7 update . Could you please fix this problem as soon possible .
i have purchased a 3gs and its jail broken. i tried to update it and it did get update also but it is not working, and techinal person said it is a locked.now how do i factory unlock it?
So, my iPhone needs to go to the store to be fixed since for some reason it thinks there is no SIM card and a restore fails. (This happened after pulling it out of the charger.)
In the meantime, there is some data in my notes that I really need to get to, and the data is backed up in iTunes. Is there a way for me to obtain this?
iPhone 3G Mac OS X (10.5.6) 2.66GHz Core 2 Duo 17" MBP
I am going on a long holiday (3months) to various countries from Canada and I will be using my phone only for the first leg of the journey for 15 days just to keep in touch with my family to say Im safe and all. I dont want to unlock or jailbreak my phone.
Is there a way to disable the 3G to avoid roaming charges ( Since I am on a contract I cant ask my provider to block it) I turn on the data roaming option but the 3G sign is still shown and its still connecting to the network
Is there any other way
